It was still cold when we were in San Diego, CA the entire week but didn't hinder us to go to the Gaslamp Quarter to hang out. All kinds of shops and entertainment clubs are around the area. Party goers prefer this place during the night time because of the clubs. During daytime, it all becomes as a shopping district and a good eating place too.
We tried the Old Spaghetti Factory, at the 5th Ave., and they have the best spaghetti ever in San Diego, I must say ;).
At the waiting area of Old Spaghetti Factory.
Ordering a meal here comes as complete; - salad, bread, spaghetti entree, beverage and dessert, - a complete package but with a good price! The meal made us almost pop up! LOL! Oh, and of course, a quick shopping in the area was never forgotten! I got some stuff I wanted :).
Since it was early yet for the day, we decided to try going Balboa Park in El Prado, San Diego coming from Gaslamp Quarter. We actually didn't know what is in the park, so that's kinda fun meeting the unexpected! :). The first thing we saw was the Museum of Man which we went into right after finding our car parking area. We had an hour left to tour around before they close, so we managed to see those that we wanted to see.
It was almost 5PM, so that all the museums were closing. We just opted to visit some gardens there and managed to click some few shots. We forgot to bring our tripod so we had to do the usual "alternate poses" for me and the hubby ;). I got fascinated by one tree located on one side of a corridor. (What's the name of this tree?) I thought it was like a tree with fake branches, but it's real! So, I thought it would be great to have some shot to it with me, LOL!
That ended our last day in CA.
While in Long Beach, we visited The Queen Mary ship and bought tour tickets for two, which was a self-guided audio tour. We wanted to tour where we could take our time and where we could explore the ship in our own pace with an audio guide. Part of the tour that was included in our tickets was the "Ghost & Legends Tour" of the Queen Mary which is sort of an interactive show tour with special effects that highlights some of the ship's famous paranormal hotspots as we were guided into the ship's haunted past. The entire tour was an hour and a half. It was actually kind of fun for us because our tour guide would try to scare us at times while walking on the dark alleys, lol!
After the ghost tour, we had the audio tour to visit the entire ship. I found the audio tour a little bit boring later on because we had to do a lot of walking back and forth and the distances are quite far. We even had to use the escalator to go up, but the escalator happened to be not working, so we had to climb it like stairs and it seemed to me it was more than a hundred steps way up high! UGH! Unfortunately, we didn't finished up that tour, and instead I had to tell my hubby we need to find a food shop because I was starving, lol! But in fairness, the place has a lot of food shops, so it wasn't hard to find one ;). There is also a hotel at the ship if you want to take your time in the ship.
I got some achy feet with all the long walks, but I could say it was still fun as an experience.Just in case you want to see more of our photos check them out HERE.
I was getting a little bit anxious thinking that it would be my first time to travel alone going to the Philippines without the hubby. The fact that it's a long trip, I always think of the what if's. But anyway, I braved it. I would be sitting on the plane mostly anyway, I told myself..lol!
It was a good thing that Craig was with me in San Francisco International Airport to keep me company while waiting for me to check-in since my flight is not until 1:05AM (Nov. 6.) Craig was going back Baltimore at 10PM so he had to go ahead and left me. I was just suddenly feeling so sad because I won't be seeing him for at least 45 days!!! I got teary eyed while waiting for my turn at the check in area while he was waving goodbye ouch!
Anyway, all went well until I got down at HK International Airport and didn't know where to check in and where to board. I asked one of the lady and she was talking like Chinese although she was speaking in English, argh! LOL!
I got lost, went back then saw a Filipina lady who happened to be going to Manila, same flight as mine..whew! after figuring out where we were, we finally able to find the checking and security area going to our boarding gate. The only hassle was that our plane going to Manila was 2 hours delayed, and I was starting to get a headache due to lack of sleep. I couldn't afford to nap as I might not be able to wake up in time for boarding, lol.
So, after the delay, we finally boarded, and I felt relieved! I don't have to worry about anything as long as my feet would be standing on the Philippine soil...so I said, Manila, here I come :).
Landed safely, went to my hotel took a late lunch, and slept like a baby ;).
Thank God for a safe travel...I did it, alone!
After spending 3 nights in Las Vegas, and a 1 day tour in Grand Canyon, Arizona, thank God, we arrived Anaheim safe and sound tonight. The trip is long (by bus), but we had fun the fact that all we did was eat, drink, watch movie, hop off at bus stops for quick stretches, and did some quick shoppings too! :).
Our Grand Canyon tour was great! It was a 17 hours tour, but seeing one of God's masterpieces is all worth it! It was cold up there, but we were both well wrapped and warm. Can't wait to share lots of our photos, but I am still in the state of grogginess, quite tired and sleepy.
I missed my online neighborhood for a day and a half, LOL!
Anyway, hoping I can share the photos too soon. Time for me to take my beauty rest...hubby is already snoring!! :)).
See ya'll next time.
At last, Ging finally arrived home to join Craig. The trip was long and exhausting but it was all worth it to finally take that first steps going to their Maryland home. The Trip:
HK Internat'l Airport waiting for flight bound for Los Angeles 19 hours flight is no joke!...tired and haggard! Ging's first steps in America @ LAX Internat'l Airport, her port of entry ...and setting her first footprints on Maryland soil, at Baltimore-Washington International Airport. From the climate of the tropics that she was used to be with, came the winter time the day she arrived in America...according to her, it was a culture shock!...weather wise :).
